Scooter trip...

Today we went on a scooter trip to Kap Petersens. this is an old trappers cabin that the Sirius patrol uses as a depot. Our aim was to find sledge team 2 who are enroute to Mestersvig tomorrow. the weather was clear and cold and the fjord and mountains were draped in the most beautiful colours. Red and pink clouds, a blue sky and white jagged peaks of over 2000 metres were surrounding us. ahhhh

15 km from the depot it started blowing a lot and we got low snow drifting. We pushed the throttle and got to the cabin. No sign of the sledge team. We went into the cabin , had a hot brew and some chocolate and drove back home. The operation took a little over 3 hours.

Internet at last...

suddenly the italians cut our internet conection. the changed the IPs' without letting us know.
after some days we found out what the problem was. then the italians gave us the wrong IPs' 4 og 5 times. Suddenly to day I managed to break throug on a poor satelite line to Italy and aquire the rigth IP's so that I can be back on my beloved internet. YEAHHH

The previous 4 days we have spent on the runway, clearing it and the apron of snow. the snow layer wasn't that thick, between 30 and 50 cm. the snow was very hard and compact therefore it took a long time. with a maximum speed of 2.5 km it takes some time to reach the far end of the runway of 1850 metres.

one of us was driving the snowblower and the other one the hydrema tractor with a plouge.

when darkness settled and it was time to go in and relax it took around 45 min to clear the snowblower of snow and ice. this is to prevent the floor in the garage from looking like a swimming pool...

Finally...

Finally my stomach is feeling better...
The stock market is turning into the green field instead of the bloody red...
Life is good and I'm happy

Food poisoning...

I probably have food poisoning after my mother consulted a couple of doctors in the family.

I hardly recommend anyone to try this at home!!!

Sickness

Out of nowhere when I was watching Jack Bauer and "24" I suddenly felt sick. 3 minutes later I was hanging out of the window on the third floor makin sacrifices to the nature...

Hugger first thougt it was the movie I was wathcing but no...

Then i had to go to bed, but only for a short time... i had to make some more sacrifices!
today I feel a lot better ;0)

Yeasterday our internet was down, due to something, somewhere...

we managed to get a water tank i Nyhavn, took out a window in Rødull and cut some pipes and fitted everything into place. thereby doubling the capacity of water in the building, Rødull.

today the weather is foggy and unstable, -18

Stay healthy

Fantastic

Today the weather cleared up after giving us a lot of snow and wind the last couple of days.
we more or less finished the orders for supplies and had a good ski trip with the dogs. we walked out to Nyhavn, and out on the ice to see if it was thick enough! we did like in the movie with Bambi...

everything is soo beautiful now. the mounatians are blue due to the ligt and everything is covered with a white soft blanket of snow.

the temperature is only -7 and we have twilight from 1100 to 1500 hours

news...

The last couple of days have been spent on the orders for supplies... tomorrow they all have to be turned in to the office in Denmark.

A couple a days ago we had to refuel two of our buildings. first we had to clear the roads and garages of snow. one of the hydremas' (tractor) had problems with the hydraulic, wich kept us busy for some hours. the problem isn't fixed yet.

tomorrow the sledge teams on Daneborg are supposed to start on their spring trip. most of them are paying us a visit...

The weather yeasterday and today have been pretty bad, with lots of wind and snow.
Except those days the last week has been cold with temperatures around -33 degrees.
we even managed to go on a few ski trips together with our dogs.

RIP Flemming

today flemming the tower lemming died. hi lived 87 days in captivity and ran 670 km in that time. he just fell asleep in his house "lemmingbo".

today the weather was great agian , no clouds and -33 and some sort of day light.
we are finishing the orders for suppøy this week.

then preparations for the more than 20 guests will start...

the first light

First light...

After 3 weeks of snowing, blowing and clowdy weather it finally cleared up.

this morning I woke up to - 30 degrees. to the south I can see the light, a creamy yellow sky and the moon. the predict the temperature drop furter down, as the weather is clear and the land is watming up. february and march are the coldest months...

It's so great to see something again...

skiing again

Finally, yeasterday was the first time since the 29th of December it was possible to ski again. the weather has been to bad in the mean time.

it was good fun. first we took the scooters out and made some ski tracks, then we went on a trip to Nyhavn and got stuck with the scooters on a steep hill side.

after some diggging we got back home and strapped the skis on. Great to be moving around!

today it's snowing again, so we will se if we can ski today...

since the 1 of November we have been skiing on average every second day.

internet again

after living 30 hours with out the internet and the luxury(?) of being a stock broker it finally started working again this afternoon. YES
the weather is still bad here, lots of wind and thick snow and only -3,4 degrees. so we spent another day indoors on our office.

we heard that 4 journalists and photographers will join the winter course here i february. they will stay here for 2 weeks. So more people, more work and more fun...?

now i'm off to make a delicious dinner of pizza and white wine...

YES, our IP-Phone is working again...

Finally after a month with out our IP-phone we have managed to repair it again...
that is so good, since the satelite phone is to expensive. between 9 and 17 DKK pr min.

The weather is still bad here. -4 and snowing and blowing

water

yes, a couple of days ago we managed to clear the roads of snow and got 4500 litres of water. then we will have enough water for the next 3 weeks.
we are still counting and the weather has turned on us agian. with more snow and more wind. Now we are kind of entertained! hehe

more bad weather

today we wanted to clear the roads of the snow that has been packing the last couple of days. some of the snow drifts are around 2 metres high. then we wanted to get some water. due to bad weather this wasn't possible so now we are really low on water...

instead we stayed indoors most of the day and started counting all the items on the station, so that we can place our orders for the supply ship in August.
it's not that funny but it has to be done to ensure that we get everything we need. like provisions, spareparts and fuel.

tomorrow we really need to clear the roads if we don't want to shower in beer...

Today we were told that the sirius winter course will arrive here the 4th of February and leave on the 4th of March!
